An all-round performance by Corey Anderson helped New Zealand win the final Twenty20 International (T20I) against Pakistan and clinch the series. The three-match series was tied 1-1 prior to the match and both the teams looked equally potent but the hosts dominated the visiting Pakistan team fully as they picked up a massive 95-run victory. Though the whole team did well, it was Corey Anderson played exceptionally well with both bat and ball and handed New Zealand an easy victory. New Zealand got a great start as Martin Guptill started off with a boundary and the over bore 15 runs. Guptill went on to hit big while Wlliamson kept his calm. The hosts reached their team score of 50 in just 4.1 overs and Pakistan looked in deep trouble. It was Shahid Afridi, their usual saviour, who gave his team their first breakthrough as he dismissed a dangerous looking Guptill for 42 off 19. Colin Munro, New Zealand’s dependable No 3 batsman failed as he was run out by young Mohammad Rizwan for 4. Rizwan showed good flexibility as he picked up and threw the ball while in the air and it dislodged the bails. Corey Anderson made the much-needed comeback as he scored his half century off 27 balls and built up a 50-run partnership with Grant Elliott. Elliott couldn’t do much after that though, as he departed making 19 followed by Luke Ronchi who scored a solitary run. Anderson remained the highest scorer as he scored a 42-ball 82 and remained unbeaten. Full Updates: Pakistan vs New Zealand 2016, 3rd T20I at Wellington

Pakistan, while chasing the target, failed miserably. A good, long-lasting and run-bearing partnership was required which the batsmen never built up. The team went on losing wickets from the very start of their innings as none of the top three batsmen could score in double-digits. The first and only mentionable partnership came between Shoaib Malik and Sarfraz Ahmed. Malik soon departed making 14 while Sarfraz became the highest scorer for their side with 41 runs.

Amongst the bowlers, Adam Milne and Grant Elliott were the most successful with three wickets each but the most significant performance came from Corey Anderson as he took 2 for 17, removing Ahmed Shehzad and Malik who was looking to settle down and ensured victory for his side.

Corey Anderson was later handed the Man of the Match award for his unbeaten 82 off 42 and 2 wickets for 17. With the win, New Zealand seal the series 2-1.
