In reply, Bangladesh lost wickets at crucial juncture and could not dominate the game. They collapsed for 264 and thereby lost the game by 77 runs. Shakib Al Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal were the other contributors but could not prevent Kane Williamson’s side from taking a 1-0 lead. Being fined for slow over-rate and now losing their wicketkeeper-batsman Rahim, Bangladesh have a huge task of keeping the series alive at Saxton Oval. They will refer to their past primes against the Black Caps for staging a comeback on Thursday.
