Welcome to Day 3, often referred to as the happening day in a Test match. Happening means that we will get a clear picture of where the Test match will be heading. New Zealand are still 209 runs behind the English total of 353. With 6 wickets in hand New Zealand will want a couple of good partnerships to get them closer to the English total if not surpass it. Whereas, England would want to gain a substantial lead and put the hosts on the back foot. They would look to get a couple of quick wickets to keep themselves ahead in this contest. All in all an action-packed day awaits us. Do join to know whether New Zealand stage a fightback or will England continue their good work in this Test?

    … Day 3, Session 1 …

  • 11:12 AM IST

Majority of the day though was dominated by the hosts but still it is the visitors who will sleep better today. Earlier, a collapse saw England being 8 down even before they crossed the 300-run mark. However, Buttler’s knock took them over the 350-run mark which people still believed to be short. In reply, the Kiwi batters did get off to starts but no one could make it count. Sam Curran was the star with the ball for the visitors as he got two important wickets. New Zealand now trail by 209 runs, they do still do have batting to come but everybody will have to contribute. England on the other hand, will want to repeat what they did in the last session and hope they can get a good lead. Join us for all the action on Day 3 at 1100 local (2200 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye!

Advantage England without a doubt! A tremendous session for them, three wickets is what they got which included two of New Zealand’s best batters, Taylor and Williamson. However, it all started after Raval’s dismissal. The opener played a rash shot which saw his downfall. Before that, he along with Williamson after the loss of Latham were going along really well but once he fell, New Zealand kept losing wickets at regular intervals which sees them behind the 8 ball game. Watling and Nicholls are fighting it out and are playing well but there is still a long way to go for them.
