Hello and welcome to day 4 of this intriguing Test match. Let’s applaud the unsung hero of New Zealand innings first. Yes, you guessed it right, it’s none other than BJ Watling. He came to the crease at a time when New Zealand were reeling at conceding huge lead to England but changed the course of the match with is hard fought innings. England on the other hand, looked clueless in the field and that drop by Ben stokes of Watling cost them the match probably. New Zealand would be happy that their star is still out there in the middle and would want him to stay longer at the crease along with the bowling all-rounders for support. The Kiwis would hope to get a handy lead over the Three Lions. Whereas, England would look to wrap up the New Zealand innings as soon as possible with also keeping an eye on the lead. Do join us for a superb day of cricket.

The England bowlers, just like the Kiwi bowlers had to toil hard. However, the English batters threw it away in their innings but New Zealand did not make the same mistakes. Also, England did not help themselves in the field too. Watling was dropped early on by Stokes which really cost them big. Also, the visitors were very sloppy and it seemed they weren’t up for it on Day 3. Strange actually, seeing the position they were in at the end of Day 2, you would expect them to come out all guns blazing but that was not the case and now they find themselves behind the 8 ball game.

A huge round of applause for the hero of today, BJ Watling as he walks off. The English players walk upto him and shake his hand. He deserves every bit of ovation he is getting, that is how good his knock has been. He is the major reason why New Zealand are in the position they are. Credit though has to be given to Nicholls, Colin de Grandhomme and Santner too. First it was Henry who hung out there with Watling, the two managed to steady the ship after New Zealand were struggling at 127 for 4. However, the two partnerships after that is what took the Kiwis on top. First, Colin de Grandhomme and Watling, the former scored an excellent half ton. The pair added 119 and the runs were also scored at a decent rate. That stand took the Kiwis to safer shores and then, the association between Santner and Watling which is still not done, has New Zealand in a commanding position at the end of Day 3.
