New Zealand vs Sri Lanka 2014-15, 1st Test at Christchurch, Day 2: Sri Lankan openers complete 50-run stand

The Sri Lankan openers notched up a 50-run stand in the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand at Christchurch. Following on after conceding a 303 runs lead Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva have put in a much improved performance.

Earlier Sri Lanka had conceded a 303 runs lead in response to New Zealand’s 441. With the exception of Angelo Mathews none of the other Sri Lankan batsman troubled the scorers much. Mathews got a half century, where as for the Kiwis Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers with impressive figures of 3 for 20. All that before Brendon McCullum annhilated the Sri Lankans on the Day One of the Test with a 134 balls 195.
