New Zealand batsmen, Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson put up a 50-run stand for the second wicket against Sri Lanka during the first of the seven-match ODI series at the Hagley Oval in Chrsitchurch on Sunday. McCullum contributed 40 while Williamson contributed eight in the stand.

Sri Lanka had earlier won the toss and elected to bat first and set a target of 219 as they take on New Zealand in the final ODI series before the ICC World Cup from February in Australia and New Zealand. Currently New Zealand’s score reads 50 for the loss of a wicket with six overs being bowled so far.
