New Zealand take on Sri Lanka in the second of the seven-match ODI series at the Seddon Park in Hamilton on Thursday. This would be Sri Lanka’s final ODI series before the ICC World Cup gets underway at Australia and New Zealand from February.

Despite a healthy century from Mahela Jayawardene in the first ODI at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Sunday, New Zealand cruised to a comfortable win, chasing down 219 in 43 overs thanks to Brendon McCullum’s quickfire 22-ball 51 and Corey Anderson’s match-winning knock of  81.

A change in the Kiwi side seemed highly unlikely till Kane Williamson was ruled out with a shoulder injury, which meant that a replacement is certain.
