Opener Tom Latham continued his stellar season with another century against Sri Lanka as New Zealand built a huge lead in the second Test in Christchurch Friday.

The 26-year-old left-hander, who starred in the first Test with an unbeaten 264 — the top score in Test cricket this year — reached his latest milestone with a boundary off Suranga Lakmal late in the morning session.

It moved Latham to 103 and extended New Zealand’s formidable second innings score to 303/3 to lead by 377.

Henry Nicholls, batting with Latham, was on 26 with Ross Taylor the one wicket to fall in the morning for 40.

From 12 innings this year, Latham has amassed 591 runs at an average of 59.10.
