Martin Guptill is dismissed off the very first ball of the innings. He is adjudged LBW off the bowling of Nuwan Kulasekara. Guptill has had a decent series so far and would have been looking to get his side off to a good start in pursuit of 288 runs that Sri Lanka had set in their first innings. Kumar Sangakkara‘s unbeaten century and Tillakaratne Dilshan‘s 81 got Sri Lanka to an extremely good total, New Zealand have put themselves on the back foot after having lost Guptill in the very first ball of the innings.

Stand-in skipper Kane Williamson along with opener Tom Latham will have to make sure that they don’t fall cheaply and get New Zealand off to great start. Brendon McCullum has been rested for this game ahead of the ICC World Cup 2015, which starts on February 14. New Zealand still have a good batting line-up and should be able to give Sri Lanka a run for their money.
