Hello and welcome to Day 3! The Kiwis put on a massive score the other day, courtesy, a brilliant double ton from skipper Kane Williamson. It is now up to the bowlers to do the job. They bowled 26 overs on Day 2 but Brathwaite and Campbell did well to negotiate that phase. A new day will bring new challenges for both sides. Will the Kiwis be able to strike or will the Windies openers be able to continue their stand from the last evening? We will know all these in a short while when the action resumes.

    … Day 3, Session 1 …

  • 11:12 AM IST

Right! 49-run unbeaten opening stand! On Day 3, when these two will come out to bat, the target for them will be to bat as long as they could. West Indies bat long and would hope that all their batters do well and take the game deep. The hosts, on the other hand, would return on Day 3 and look to get rid of this stand first and then go about their business. Day 2 belongs to the Kiwis but the way these two are batting, the New Zealand bowlers might have to do the toil if they are to take the honors for the 3rd day as well. So, when we return for Day 3, it is going to be another intriguing day’s play! Do join us for the same. Until then, it is goodbye from our side. Take care!

Then came the Windies openers! They were tested by Southee and Boult in the first few overs but they weathered the storm. Jamieson too bowled well but couldn’t produce the magic delivery. Wagner arrived and started bowling the bouncers but Campbell and Brathwaite did well to negotiate him as well.

Nothing much to talk about the Windies bowling. They weren’t bad but just couldn’t find the way to get the big wicket of Williamson. Gabriel struck early, Roach removed Nicholls but after that, it was hard work for the bowlers. Roach had managed to get the wicket of Williamson but he overstepped and gave Kane another chance. It was Joseph who eventually got the wicket of Williamson but not before the Kiwi skipper got to his first-ever 250 in Tests. Declaration eventually came and that would’ve given a sigh of relief to the Windies bowlers who had to toil really hard in the course of these 2 days, bowling 145 overs.

It was all about Kane Williamson! The day started with New Zealand losing Ross Taylor early. Nicholls didn’t last long too but Kane continued as he got good support from the likes of Blundell, Mitchell, and Jamieson. He went past 250 and got out trying to up the ante. Jamieson got to his maiden half ton and the Kiwis declared after that.

Fine phase of play for West Indies! Their openers have managed to remain unscathed! But the day will belong to the Kiwis and especially to their skipper Kane Williamson for his classy knock of 251.

25.2 Neil Wagner to Kraigg Brathwaite, no run, Poor from Brathwaite! Shouldn’t be fiddling with balls that are so wide this late in the day. He would not want to lose his wicket right now. Fullish and wide outside off, going away. Brathwaite chases after it as he looks to drive but misses. Really lucky not to edge it behind.

  • 10:57 AM IST

25.1 Neil Wagner to John Campbell, 1 run, Wagner runs in and bangs it short again from over the wicket. Campbell has had enough of him and he takes him on. Pulls him down to deep square leg for a single.

  • 10:52 AM IST

23.6 Neil Wagner to John Campbell, no run, Makes him uncomfortable this time. And gives him the stare too. Lovely stuff from Wagner. Remember him troubling Wade with the same line and length and that’s what he is trying to do against Campbell here. He goes over the wicket for this ball and makes it come into him from just outside off, Campbell looks to fend it away but he takes his eyes off and gets hit on the elbow.

  • 10:50 AM IST

  • 10:50 AM IST

23.2 Neil Wagner to John Campbell, no run, Gets it around the ribcage. Campbell does well to block it wide of the short leg fielder.

  • 10:47 AM IST

  • 10:46 AM IST
