Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins will miss the upcoming white-ball series against India because of injury concerns. The 32-year-old fast bowler from New South Wales hasn’t played any competitive cricket since July 2025, when he last featured against the West Indies. Reports suggest that his recovery is taking longer than expected, and there’s also a strong possibility that he might miss the opening Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series against England in Perth.

Before the first India vs Australia ODI at Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday (October 19), Pat Cummins was asked by Star Sports to name his all-time India-Australia combined XI. Interestingly, in his list of 11 players, all were retired cricketers with eight from Australia and only three from India.

Cummins chose Sachin Tendulkar and David Warner as the opening pair in his all-time India-Australia XI. They were followed by Ricky Ponting, Steve Smith, Shane Watson, and Michael Bevan in the batting order.

Smith, who helped Australia win the ODI World Cups in 2015 and 2023, had announced his retirement from ODI cricket in March 2025 after Australia couldn’t make it to the Champions Trophy final.
