Kalyani: Hosts Bengal suffered a 32-run defeat against Odisha in the Under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy East Zone one-dayer at Bengal Cricket Academy ground in Kalyani near Kolkata on Monday. Odisha rode on Soubhagya Ranjan Mishra’s 46 and Saurabh Rawat’s 42 to set a stiff target of 219 after electing to bat. In reply, Bengal captain Agniv Pan scored a half-century but his effort went in vain as they were bundled out of 186. While Bengal pacers Kanishk Seth and Ishan Porel took four and three wickets respectively, Anurag Prusty and Subham Nayak shared five wickets in between them for Odisha.

Odisha were off to a feeble start when they lost openers Subhranshu Senapati and Preeyatam Singh with just 25 runs on board. Three more wickets fell, and the Odisha scoreboard read 91 for 5 in the 25th over. Soubhagya Ranjan Mishra (46) and Saurabh Rawat (42) led the fightback in order to guide the visitors to 199 for 6, before P Pramanik and the rest of the Bengal bowlers wiped out the remainder of the batting order to restrict them to 218.
