‘One rotten egg…’: Shikhar Dhawan slammed by Former Pakistan player after India-Pak WCL got called off
Afridi blasted Dhawan regarding WCL 2025 drama.
Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi criticized Shikhar Dhawan for influencing other Indian players against him after he pulled out of the India-Pakistan World Championship of Legends (WCL) due to the Afridi’s participation.
Shahid Afridi- who is always on the spotlight for his controversial behavior and statements, recently made negative comments against Indian team on 20 July. Which hurts the sentiments of the players and led them to pull out of the match.
Speaking to the local media on Sunday, Shahid Afridi claimed that Shikhar Dhawan was responsible for the abandonment of the India vs Pakistan exhibition match. Dhawan had publicly announced that if Afridi played he would pull out of the game.
Afridi got furious with Dhawan for influencing all the Indian players to not play the match and called him a ‘rotten egg’.
“…Sports brings countries closer. If politics comes between everything then how will you move forward? Without communication, things cannot be solved. The idea for these kinds of events is also to meet one on one. But you know, there is always one rotten egg, which spoils everything,” Afridi said to local Media on 20 July.
Afridi also added that Dhawan was an embarrassment for his nation and that the Indian team should have stayed in their home if they don’t want to play cricket at the WCL 2025.
“They trained a day before the match. I think that they pulled out just because of one guy. Even the Indian team is very disappointed. They were here to play. I am telling you, you should be a good ambassador for the country, not an embarrassment,” Afridi said.
After Operation Sindoor, this was the first India vs Pakistan match- set to be held in WCL 2025, but it was called off due to the actions of a single Indian player who influenced others not to play, citing cross-border tensions.
