On the other hand, New Zealand also has had an impressive campaign, with just one defeat, that too by the hands of the Rohit Sharma-led side.

According to Indian legend Ravi Shastri, Indian team only has a slight lead over New Zealand for the final clash of the Champions Trophy 2025. After the match of the ICC Knockouts 2000 final, Men in Blue will now face the Black Caps after 25 long years in the final of an ICC event.

After New Zealand beat South Africa and moved to the finals, the Black Caps have played well throughout the tournament. On this performance, Ravi Shastri stated on the ICC Review that India might have a chance to face defeat on March 9.

If there’s one team that can beat India, it’s New Zealand. So India start as favourites but only just,” Shastri said in ‘The ICC Review.’

Both the finalist teams for the Champions Trophy are from Group A, with India being the table-toppers and New Zealand being on the second place in the points table. The Men in Blue faced New Zealand once in the last league stage of their group on March 2, where they defeated the Black Caps by 44 runs. It will now be interesting to see what is to unfold on the title deciding clash.
