Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq was rushed to a hospital after copping a blow to his helmet during the 2nd ODI against New Zealand at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Lockie Ferguson’s quick bouncer, the first delivery of the 13th over, struck the grille of Imam’s helmet as he attempted a pull but missed it as he immediately fell to the ground after dropping his bat. He retired hurt on 16.

He remained lying on the ground with his eyes closed and required a thorough examination. He soon was back on his feet but looked uncomfortable as he kept hobbling. It seemed he wanted to continue batting but umpire Shozab Raza signalled for the doctors to take him off the field.
