The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent fresh guidelines to all Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises after a security protocol breach occurred at a team hotel. The Board has made it clear that any further violations will not be tolerated.

The issue came to light after Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, who is playing for Lahore Qalandars, posted on social media thanking the Board for allowing him to meet his family members at the team hotel. Soon after, the PCB sent an email to all eight franchises and other officials.

Strict permission rule for family meetings

According to reliable sources, the PCB has informed the franchises that no player or official can meet family members inside the team hotel without prior permission. Players must seek approval at least 24 hours in advance.

The Board has made it clear that anyone wanting to meet with family members in the hotel has to seek permission 24 hours before the intended visit by family members,” said a source close to the PCB.

The Board has also said it will try to arrange a suitable meeting point for players with their families inside the hotel. Only a player’s wife, parents, brother, and sister will be allowed inside the player’s room, and that too only after getting clearance 24 hours in advance.

Serious view taken by police

Senior police officials reportedly took a serious view of the breach that happened last Saturday night. Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sikandar Raza were involved when four guests were found in Raza’s room late at night.

The police conveyed to the PCB that unless all franchises strictly follow security protocols, it will be difficult to provide a safe environment for players and officials.

The PCB’s security manager and anti-corruption head have also expressed their concerns about the breach to PSL CEO Salman Naseer.

The PCB has tightened security rules for the ongoing PSL after a recent breach at a team hotel. Players will now need to take prior permission before meeting family members inside the hotel. The Board has warned that any further violations will not be tolerated.

This step aims to ensure the safety of all players and officials during the tournament.
