Pakistan beat West Indies by a whopping 111 runs in the first One-Day International (ODI) and have gone past India to have the second most number of wins in ODIs. Pakistan now have 455 wins in 864 ODIs, while India have 454 wins in 899 ODIs so far. Australia have won the most number of ODIs, having won 547 matches in 884 ODIs. India will be play their 900th game in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand after the ongoing Test series. Pakistan have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series and a win in the second game will seal the series.

Pakistan are currently in the ninth position in the ICC ODI rankings. They will have to win as many games and series as possible till the September 30 as it is the cut-off date for the automatic qualification for the ICC World Cup 2019. India and Pakistan ate set to play each other next in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England. They played each other in the Asia Cup aT20 and also the T20 World Cup 2016. Pakistan lost on both occasions. Anurag Thakur, the BCCI chief has had earlier asked the ICC not to put India and Pakistan in the same group in the ICC tournaments. Thakur said that he will write to the ICC to express his opinion.

PCB on the other hand have not made any comments about this. But India has refused to play Pakistan in the near future at the wake of the recent Uri terror attacks, that killed 19 Indian soldiers.
