On February 20, the Pakistan cricket team has left off for Dubai, to face India in the 2025 edition of Champions Trophy. The team has departed without their opener Fakhar Zaman, who had suffered an injury during the opening match of the marquee event against New Zealand on February 19.

The dependable player suffered a muscle strain when he was fielding in New Zealand’s innings and remained away from the field for most of the innings.

When chasing the ball towards the boundary in the first over of the match, he faced the injury. According to PCB, he is being examined for muscular sprain as of now and further updates will be provided soon.

Later on in the second innings, he was not able to open, prompting Saud Shakeel to take the place as an opener. Zaman came in at No. 4 and scored 24 off 41, even though he was visibly struggling during his knock.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stated that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is make an announcement on Fakhar Zaman soon. He made a comeback in the Pakistan team for Champions Trophy after playing for the last time in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
