Pakistan‘s middle-order failed to capitalise and bring up the same performance as Day Three, as they succumbed to some good bowling form the Sri Lankans, on Day Four of the first of two-Test series at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. Pakistan currently lead by 79 runs, with just two wickets remaining in the innings. Earlier, Pakistan batsmen Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail resumed at the overnight score of 266 for the loss of four wickets, following the dismissal of Babar Azam for 28 during the final ball of Day 3. Early on in the day, Azhar survived an lbw scare, as the review too went in favour of Pakistan. However, the two could not last long as they could only put up a 28-run stand, before Azhar fell for a healthy 85 to Rangana Herath. In came the skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, as Pakistan looked to extend the innings and come closer towards the lead. However, the two could add just 22 runs, before the skipper departed for mere 18 to Suranga Lakmal, who bowled him up. It was followed by another slender 10-run stand between Sohail and incoming batsman Mohammad Aamer, as the latter fell for mere four to Lakmal again, who trapped him leg-before. Aamer opted for the review, but it went in favour of the umpire.

Just at the stroke of lunch, it was Yasir Shah, who departed for mere eight to Herath after contributing just 14 runs along with Sohail. Therefore, it is clear that the Pakistan innings has been shaky on Day Four for now and it won’t be long before this innings folds with just a couple of wickets more needed by the Lankans. Can Sohail steer Pakistan to a lead in the post-lunch session?
