The fast bowler Pat Cummins will play no further part in Australia‘s remaining two ODIs versus Pakistan after being sent home from the UAE to rest up ahead of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Cummins’ workload had been carefully managed in the series and he only played the third ODI this week, which Australia won to claim an unassailable 3-0 lead.

With Cummins gone, Australia have only three frontline fast bowlers to choose for the remaining games in Dubai on Friday and Sunday: Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff and Kane Richardson. (READ: Australian cricket on the mend after torrid 12 months post ball-tampering)

Australia are already without Jhye Richardson, who flew home with a dislocated right shoulder.
