A Pakistani television anchor, Dr Nauman Niaz has made claims that English players were tampering the ball in a bid to extract reverse swing on Day 5 of the third Test. England in the second session picked up as many as 5 wickets for nothing. Niaz further claimed that the English bowlers were shining the ball to an extent it was labeled as ball tampering, while rubbing the ball against their trousers.Pakistan were bowled out for 201 in the second innings on Day Five, after Englandâs pacers put in a fantastic display of reverse-swing bowling. Pakistanâs middle order collapsed horrendously from 124-3 to 125-7 on Day Five, as Chris Woakes, Steve Finn and James Anderson ripped through the hosts and scripted a magnificent victory. In the post match analysis, Niaz played out a video that tried to support his claims. Misbah-ul-Haq, the Pakistan captain, said: âEngland reversed the ball, bowled in the right areas, and within an hour they took the game away from us. Sometimes when the ball starts reversing you just need to see off that 10-15 overs so the ball gets soft, but we lost all our main batsmen then.â

England captain Alastair Cook insisted his side had âfurther to goâ after a win over Pakistan at Edgbaston gave them a chance to top the world Test rankings before the end of their home season. The hosts had it all to do after conceding a first-innings lead of 103 runs at Midlands county Warwickshireâs headquarters. However, showing admirable resilience, England recovered to win the third Test by 141 runs on Sunday to go 2-1 up with one to play ahead of the series finale at The Oval starting on Thursday.
