New Zealand lost two wickets early on Day Two of the second Test at Dubai on November 18. Ehsan Adil snared the wicket of Corey Anderson, while Rahat Ali took the wicket of centurion Tom Latham to give Pakistan a great start on second morning. At the end of 93 overs, New Zealand were 252 for the loss of five wickets.

The first day clearly belonged to young opener Latham. The application and temperament shown by him was truly incredible. First along with McCullum, the young left-hander helped his team get off to a steady start. After his skipper got out, he stuck on and gave no chance to the hosts to make a comeback in the game. He put another fifty-plus stand with Williamson for the second wicket and brought up his fifty in the process. Finally with Ross Taylor also he featured in a 73 runs partnership for the third wicket. The 22 years old left hander from Canterbury brought up his second Test hundred in the third session of the day. At stumps he remained not out on at 137.
