New Zealand made a fighting 404 in their first innings of the second Test against Pakistan. Thanks to the resilience shown by the lower middle order the Kiwis were able to get past the 400 mark. Keeping the turn in the wicket and dry conditions in mind, this total can be termed as good score to have in the bag. Pakistan batsmen need to bat well to put New Zealand under pressure in the second innings.

Tom Latham top scored for the visitors with a classy 137. Apart from him most of the other batsmen chipped in with useful contributions. For Pakistan Zulfiqar Babar was the most successful bowler. He took four for 137.

New Zealand is playing the second Test of the three match series at Dubai, which is started form Monday. Pakistan are 1-0 up in the series and made three changes in their playing eleven from the last Test. The openers, Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad missed out due to injury issues, so Taufeeq Umar and Shan Masood came in. Imran Khan also has been rested for Ehsan Adil. On the other hand, New Zealand fielded an unchanged team.
