South Africa scored 234 for nine in their 50 overs against Pakistan in their ICC Champions Trophy 2013 encounter at Edgbaston, Birmingham. It was a spirited effort by the Pakistan bowlers as they restricted South Africa to that score. Hashim Amla scored 81, but Pakistan hit back with regular wickets to take charge.

This is a must win encounter for both sides as they have lost their respective opening games. South Africa started off slowly and couldn’t really find momentum through the innings. Misbah-ul-Haq, the Pakistan captain was fantastic in the field and effected three dismissals. This was the kind of performance they needed to get inspired and record a victory.

Brief Scores:

South Africa 234 for 9 in 50 overs (Hashim Amla 81, AB de Villiers 31; Mohammad Irfan 1 for 27) vs Pakistan
