Starting the day on 227 on 4, Sri Lanka ruled the first session against Pakistan in the first Test at Abu Dhabi. Dinesh Chandimal along with Niroshan Dickwella thwarted hosts hope of a comeback in the match. It was Hasan Ali, who scalped the all important wicket of Niroshan just on the brink of lunch. Sri Lanka going into lunch are 322 for 5 with Chandimal and Dilruwan Perera holding forth.

Chandimal remained unfazed by a probing spell by Pakistan’s bowler. It was Niroshan that decided to hit-back at the hosts with some hefty blows. He was eventually cleaned up by Hasan, who got him for 83. Niroshan s feet were stuck in the crease that induced an inside edge on to the stump.

Dilruwan Perera survived a close leg-before call against Yasir that was overturned by DRS. Heading into lunch Chandimal scored his 9th Test ton in 273 balls.

Earlier on Day 1, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat. It was Dimuth Karunaratne and Chandimal that held the visitors innings together. Yasir as a norm picked chipped in with 2 wicket; including his 150th victim.
