Pakistanis vs Nepal tour match at Abu Dhabi: Pakistanis enforce empathic 121-run victory

Anil Mandal became the first Nepal batsman to score a half century against a top-ranked team.

Nepal showed tough resistance in the second match of their tour to United Arab Emirates (UAE) against Pakistanis but could not win. Although Pakistanis won the 50-over match convincingly by 121 runs, Nepal’s fight was praiseworthy. Nepal won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pakistanis made a mammoth 326 for six in their innings with the help of opening batsman Azhar Ali’s brilliant run a ball 73. Shoaib Malik who came lower down the order made a good contribution of 63 runs. They both remained not out as they got retired hurt in the match. Nepal started well in their innings with their first wicket partnership between Anil Mandal and Subhash Khakurel fetching them 49 runs before Khakurel got out of a Yasir Shah’s delivery. Mandal went on to make 61, thus becoming the first Nepal batsman to score a half century against a top-ranked team. He also struck a six en route his 61-run knock making him the first Nepal batsman to hit a six against Pakistanis. Sagar Pun and Gyanendra Malla, who came next made 39 and 41 runs respectively which helped Nepal go past 200 and end their innings on 205 for five in their allotted 50 overs. Nepal drew their first game (a two-day match) of this tour against Hong Kong. Their next match is against Danube Lions in Dubai on November 11, 2015 i.e. two days later followed by a match against Oman. They will play six matches in this tour; their last two matches are against Papua New Guinea. All these matches are part of ICC World Cricket League Championship, 2015-2016/17.
