New York: In the eighth match of the T20 World Cup, India took on Ireland at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York. India won the toss and decided to bowl. It was a wise decision as New York’s pitch is really helpful for pacers and provides them with a lot of swing.

Right from the beginning, the Indian bowlers started tearing apart Ireland’s batting lineup. Arshdeep Singh took the first wicket for India by dismissing the Irish captain, Paul Stirling. In the same over he also sent Andrew Balbirnie back to the dugout.

The Indian bowlers were not only picking up wickets but were also maintaining a great economy rate. Hardik Pandya was soon handed the ball and he showed why he deserved his place in the squad even after his dismal performance in IPL 2024.

Pandya dismissed Ireland’s third batsman Lorcan Tucker in the sixth over and from that point on, Ireland would go on to lose 5 more wickets in the next 5 overs.

Josh Little and Gareth Delany played important cameos of 14 and 26 runs respectively and made Ireland reach a score of 96 before getting bundled out by the Indian bowlers.

Pandya had the best bowling figures for India as he took 3 wickets and gave 27 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets while giving away only 6 runs in 3 overs and Arshdeep also took 2 wickets. It was indeed a terrific bowling performance by India.
