A fine half-century by Rajasthan’s Rashmi Ranjan Parida (64) went in vain as Panthers lost to Lions by just one run in a thrilling Jaipur Premier League (JPL) match at KL Saini stadium in Mansarovar.
Â
Batting first, Lions surged to 182 for eight in their stipulated 20 overs with some fine batting display by Pranay Sharma (44) and Riaz Khan (37) before Nikhil Doru scored a brisk 24-ball 38 towards the end to help his team post a challenging total.
Â
For Panthers, Aniket Choudhary, Rubal Tholia and Arvind Bhati shared couple of wickets apiece to restrict the rampaging Lions.
Â
Chasing a stiff target, Â (15) and Rohit Sharma (22) provided decent start to Panthers and with Parida holding the one end, things looked good until man-of-the-match Shrdhanand Yadav (4 for 39) struck vital blows to help Lions to a thrilling win.
Â
Meanwhile, the match between Mustangs and Rhinos was reduced to 12 overs a side due to rain.
Â
Put into bat, Mustangs scored 139 for six from 12 overs with useful contributions from Saurav Chouhan (44), Manjeet Singh (28) and Ashok Menaria (21).
Â
In reply, Rhinos managed 120 for two despite a 35-ball 70 by Naresh Gehlot.
Â
Naresh and Divya Pratap Singh (29) stitched a 65-run partnership for the second wicket, but that did not prove enough as Rhinos faltered at the last hurdle.
Â
Rhinos’ medium pacer Deepak Chahar, who is trying to get back to form after a forced lay-off, was impressive picking two for 29 while Divya claimed two for 30.
