Big boost for PBKS ahead of their IPL clash againt DC
Punjab Kings (PBKS) overseas players Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, and Kyle Jamieson are set to arrive in India and join the squad on Tuesday, according to ESPNcricinfo
All four are up for selection immediately, against IPL 2025 clash with Delhi Capitals on Saturday, May 24, as the team seek to chase a top-two spot after having secured playoff qualification for the first time since IPL 2014.
Stoinis and Inglis have played only for a limited time for PBKS this season, with the team often changing overseas players in the hope of finding a stable middle order. PBKS has had a highly successful campaign, thaks to solid contributions from their top-order and bowlers. Stoinis has scored 82 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 167.34, while Inglis has scored 92 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 139.39.
Hardie, Western Australia’s seam bowling all-rounder, is still to make an appearance this season after being purchased for INR 1.25 crore during the auction. Jamieson, who replaced the injured Lockie Ferguson in the middle of the season, is still to play for PBKS. But with Marco Jansen to depart for the World Test Championship (WTC) final following the league stage, at least one of them might find a key role during the playoffs.
Punjab Kings will face Delhi Capitals in their next match and play their final league stage game against Mumbai Indians. PBKS are currently placed third on the points table with 17 points. They will be looking to win both matches to secure a spot in the top two.
