Punjab Cricket Association‘s upcoming stadium at Mullanpur, at the outskirts of Chandigarh, has been exempted from entertainment tax for a period of 10 years from the project’s commissioning.

PCA Secretary M P Pandove informed that the proposed Mullanpur stadium project has been approved as Mega project by the Punjab Government.

“The Association (PCA) has also been given exemption from entertainment tax for 10 years for the new stadium. The Association will also be seeking some more concessions from government for acquisition of some left over parts in the area of the proposed site,” Pandove told the Executive Committee of the PCA, which met under the chairmanship of its president, IS Bindra at Mohali.

The Mullanpur stadium is being constructed over 40 acres of land.

Pandove informed that PCA Mohali ground had won the cash award for best maintained ground. He proposed bonus to ground staff as six months salary, which was considered and approved, PCA spokesman Sushil Kapoor said today.

The PCA Secretary also proposed 10 per cent increment for the staff for the year 2012-13, which was also approved.

Pandove put up the minutes of Executive Committee meeting held on November 18 last year, which were confirmed.

“At the outset, Pandove proposed a more meaningful and competitive format for the Punjab Inter District matches for age group and senior matches. It was also decided to probe the possibility of having a sponsor for Senior Inter District Tournament and to name the trophy accordingly,” Kapoor said.
