Peter Moores resigns as England coach; Paul Farbrace to take charge for Test series against New Zealand

Peter Moores has resigned from his position as the coach of the England national cricket team on Saturday. The decision of the same was confirmed by an official media release by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), which stated that the move followed private conversations between Tom Harrison, Chief Executive of the ECB, and Andrew Strauss, the new Director of England Cricket. “At the moment it’s difficult to put into words how I feel except to say how disappointed I am in the way my term as England Coach has ended. I will walk away knowing I’ve given my all to the role and always put the team at the front of any decision making,” Moores was quoted as saying according to the release.

Moores’ removal as England coach comes at the same time as the appointment of Andrew Strauss as the Director of England cricket. Moores is likely to be replaced by either Jason Gillespie or Justin Langer, both former Australian cricketers, the move of which was criticised by a British newspaper.
