Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday announced that Phil Hughes will replace Shaun Marsh on the tour of South Africa.

National Selector John Inverarity said: “As Shaun Marsh’s calf injury has not improved as much as required over the past four days he has been withdrawn from the Test squad for the tour of South Africa.

“Phillip Hughes had been placed on standby and now comes into the Test squad as a replacement for Shaun. Phillip will head to South Africa as soon as possible.”

Hughes’ flight details are yet to be confirmed.

The Test tour of South Africa starts with a four-day warm up match against an Invitational XI in Potchefstroom next week before the first Test in Centurion, starting on February 12.
