Mumbai Indians (MI) posted a par total against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. It was only due to a superb 100-run stand betwen Kieron Pollard and Corey Anderson that they got there.  Live Blog: Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. They made as many as three changes to their team. Harbhajan Singh missed out due to a sore neck and he was replaced by Shreyas Gopal. Ambati Rayudu and Aditya Tare were replaced by Unmukt Chand and Parthiv Patel. Rajasthan Royals were unchanged from their previous game. Parthiv Patel opened with Aaron Finch as they got off to a decent start but Steven Smith kept ringing in the changes to now allow the Mumbai Indian batsmen to get away. Aaron Finch had to go off the field as he pulled up his hamstring trying to stretch for a single in the just the fourth over of the game. Unmukt Chand came out to bat but things started to unravel for them as Patel got out soon. Rohit Sharma coming in at a No 4 was dismissed for a duck, his second one in as many games. Unmukt Chand too did not last long as Praveen Tambhe bowled him for 12. Mumbai were left reeling at 45/3 after 10 overs with Pollard and Anderson having to do a lot of work. Both of them had a lot of trouble early on to score freely as they too went hard at the ball till Anderson got a huge reprieve when he was caught off a no-ball from Kulkarni in the 15th over. Mumbai were 83 for three then. Anderson was on 23 then and was  was very severe after that let off and kept finding the fence as the partnership began to grow past fifty. Runs began to flow as Mumbai plundered 16 and 17 runs off those respective overs in the innings.  IPL 2015: Complete Coverage

Pollard smashed seven fours and five sixes in his knock, entertaining the crowd at the fag end of the innings. He outscored Anderson to score his 8th IPL fifty. Mumbai were long waiting for him to score and the score came just at the right time for Mumbai. He was out for a well made 70 in just 34 balls. He picked out the fielder at mid-wicket after hitting Tim Southee for 20 runs in the penultimate over of the innings.  IPL 2015: Points Table and Team Standings

Anderson scored his second fifty against Rajasthan Royals in as many games as Mumbai finished on a strong note, scoring 81 runs in the last five overs. Chris Morris castled Anderson but he had done his job though by then. They now have a good total on board and will hope to bowl well to stop Rajasthan Royals from winning three games in a row.
