Two years ago on January 5, Pranav Dhanawade had made breaking news when he smashed 1,009 runs in an innings. Since then, however, Pranav has had many downs in his career. He even gave away his INR 10,000 scholarship offered by Mumbai Cricket Association in November 2017.

Dhanawade has made the second-year anniversary of his record a memorable one. He was playing for Jhujhunwala College in an inter-college match against Guru Nanak College at the Cross Maidan in Mumbai; he scored 236 with 35 fours and three sixes. His knock helped Jhunjhunwala post a total of 459.

While talking to Hindustan Times he told it was challenging to bat in the start.

The wicket was a bit wet and it was a challenge to bat early on. But it eased out as the game progressed and runs flowed for me, said Dhanawade

I had to be watchful towards the start of the innings as the wicket had lot of challenges at the start, he added.

Dhanawade said he did not know it was the second anniversary of the record when he went to bat. He also talked about the additional pressure to fulfill expectations.

When going in to bat, I did not remember the date, to be honest. I just went on and runs started flowing in some time. After my century I realised that I had an opportunity to make a big score here. But it was only after I was dismissed I recalled the date of that innings, Dhanawade said.

I do not think about it regularly but yes, the additional pressure has always been there whenever I have walked out to bat. I know people expect a lot from me, Dhanawade added.
