Kumar Sangakkara is playing for Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2018. In a recent announcement, it was revealed that Sangakkara has agreed to play the PSL eliminators in Pakistan. Sultans President Asher Schon confirmed the news while addressing the media in Dubai: “Yes, Kumar Sangakkara has agreed [to come to Pakistan] and he’s very excited about it, he has a lot of history in Pakistan.” He also confirmed that other foreign players will be traveling as well. Sangakkara — Sri Lanka’s vice-captain in 2009 — was one of the players injured in the firing at Lahore where six policemen and two civilians were killed.

This is Sultan’s debut in PSL. They are currently at third spot in the points table with four points. Sangakkara is in good form being the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 126 runs in 3 innings, followed by teammate Shoaib Malik, who is one run behind him.

The first eliminator matches will be played at the Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, the same stadium where Sri Lanka were headed for when their bus was attacked. The final will be played on March 25 in Karachi. The Sulants next play Karachi Kings on Friday at Sharjah.
