PSL a launchpad for young Pakistan players, says Usama Mir

Karachi [Pakistan]: Karachi Kings’ 21-year-old leg-spinner Usama Mir has insisted that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is the best platform for youngsters who aspire to play cricket at international level. Mirâs comments came after producing yet another spectacular performance during Kingsâ 44-run win over Islamabad United in their play-off clash. Describing PSL as a ‘shortcut’ for aspiring cricketers to earn a spot in the national team, Mir believes this year’s PSL could be a major turning point for his career, the Dawn reported. âOur captain told us to give 100 per cent without worrying about the result,â Mir said while adding that he is looking forward to perform at his menacing best in the upcoming matches.
During his sideâs win on Wednesday, the leg-spinner scalped the crucial wickets of Shadab Khan, Asif Ali and Mohammad Sami as the Kings defended a modest target of 127 runs against Islamabad United. Mir also gained attention in a match against Peshawar Zalmi in which he took Shahid Afridiâs wicket to turn the entire match in his teamâs favour and eventually helping them to come out victorious by nine runs. In other news, PSL) chairman Najam Sethi has reassured that the two teams qualifying for the leagueâs final in Lahore will field four foreign players each. Making the announcement through his official Twitter account, Sethi wrote, âI can confirm that each finalist team will field four foreign players from pool of platinum, diamond and gold players who have agreed.”
Sethiâs comments came after four foreign players of Quetta Gladiators, namely star batsmen Kevin Pietersen and Rilee Rossouw, all-rounder Luke Wright and fast bowler Tymal Mills confirmed their unavailability for the final despite the team qualifying for it.
