R Vinay Kumar led Karnataka’s remarkable comeback as they bowled out Punjab for 270 in the first innings of their Ranji Trophy 2013-14 semi-final at PCA STadium in Mohali on Sunday.

Punjab slipped from 223 for four to 270 all-out as Vinay Kumar registered a five-wicket haul.

Karnataka captain R Vinay Kumar led his side’s fightback with two quick wickets to pull back Punjab.

Vinay dismissed Mandeep Singh and Gitansh Khera in a space of three balls and then removed Gurkeerat Singh Mann to leave the hosts tottering at 232 for seven.

Vinay, who was off the field for a long time on the second day of the match, returned to produce a magical spell for his side. In the 55th over of the match, he got two wickets of Mandeep and Khera, and then dismissed Mann to derail Punjab’s innings.

But it all started when Punjab and India batsman Yuvraj Singh fell after a fluent knock of 42, which included three boundaries and two sixes.

Earlier,  Punjab made a rollicking start against Karnataka as they reached 138 for two at lunch on the second day of the Ranji Trophy semi-final match at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on Sunday.

The first day’s play between the two sides was washed out on Saturday.
