Punjab openers made a confident start as they were 72 for no loss in 18 overs against Karnataka in their Ranji Trophy 2013-14 semi-final match at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium at Mohali on Sunday.

After playing cautiously for the first few initial overs, Punjab openers Manan and Jiwanjot Singh started taking the attack to the opposition and played strokes around the park,

Karnataka suffered a blow after winning the toss and electing to field as their captain R Vinay Kumar had to pull out due ti back spasm.

The first day’s play was washed out in this semi-final game of the Ranji Trophy 2013-14 season, and on the second day, Karnataka won the toss and elected to field.
