Opener Quinton de Kock’s 112 took South Africa to 266 for five in the fourth One-Day International (ODI) against Pakistan at the Sheik Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Coming into the match with a 2-1 lead in the series, South Africa skipper AB de Villiers won the toss and elected to bat first.

The opening pair of de Kock and Hashim Amla justified the decision with a steady 67-run stand for the first wicket before the latter misread the line and played an awful shot to get dismissed by Mohammad Hafeez.

Pakistan brought the run-rate under control after tasting blood with the first wicket. Even as de Kock was in full flow, Faf du Plessis was looking out of sorts. His 23-ball stay at the crease ended as he got the toe-end of the bat while trying to play a shot on the up after walking down the track.

However, the South African innings moved on smoothly as skipper de Villiers joined de Kock at the crease. The duo put on 69 runs off 81 balls for the third wicket. Junaid Khan accounted for both their wickets. The visitors suffered a mini collapse from thereon in a bid to up the scoring rate.

Some late flourish from JP Duminy (25 not out) and Ryan McLaren (28 not out) helped the visitors to take their total past the 250-run mark

Brief scores:

South Africa 266 for 5 in 50 overs (Quinton de Kock 112, Hashim Amla 46; Mohammad Hafeez 2 for 34) vs Pakistan
