Rahul Dravid spoke about what he knew about Dilip Sardesai, while delivering the Dilip Sardesai Memorial Lecture 2014 in Mumbai on Friday.

“Everything I know about Dilip Sardesai is through stories. His partnerships with Eknath Solkar, he once kicked the ball towards boundary when he knew the batsman was ready to run five. There is a great parallel with cricket’s oral tradition and our guru-shishya [teacher-student] relation.”, Dravid said.

“I have heard a story of how he once stood alongside the sightscreen of Brabourne and shouted ‘lagori’ when a bowler had an average action. If he is watching cricket these days up there, I am sure he will be shouting lagori. (lagori is an Indian game which involves throwing)”, Dravid said.
