Rahul Dravid continues to be in the thick of things in the Indian cricketing circles well after his retirement. Reports coming in now suggest that Dravid missed out on India U-19 selection meet held by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently. Dravid s tenure got over in March and since then he has been keenly looking forward to continuing as head-coach. The India U-19 team is scheduled to play England in 2 four-day games in England in July. Dravid decided against attending the meeting because he felt it would be right on his part to as his contract has not been renewed. According to Indian Express, a BCCI official was quoted as saying, Dravid has informed BCCI that he won t be attending selection committee meeting as he doesn t want any controversy. Dravid s contract is yet to be renewed and as he is no longer the coach of India Under-19 team. He said that it will be unfair on his part to attend the meeting without owning the job.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has invited applications for the post of U-19 head coach s job much like the senior team. Dravid, like Kumble, will get a direct entry into the selection process. We would be following the same process followed to select the Indian national team coach for the junior team as well. It was approved by COA in the last meeting and Dravid will get direct entry in the selection process, BCCI official concluded.
