Rahul Dravid is set to continue his tenure as the coach of the India A and Under-19 team as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has handed him a 2-year extension of his contract. Meanwhile, the candidate for the post of Head Coach for India senior men’s team has to be re-selected as Anil Kumble resigned from the post of head coach ahead of the West Indies series. The application deadline for the same has been extended until July 9. The former India cricketer was recently in news due to the conflict of interest issue after a Lodha Recommendation barred his chances to be associated with both the India coach position and Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils (DD). However, BCCI confirmed his contract extension through their tweet on their social media account. READ: Rahul Dravid gives U-19 selection meet a miss as confusion over conflict of interest continues

In Dravid s contract, there is a line which states the BCCI can give extension to him. Whereas in [Anil] Kumble s contract there is no clause of extension. That is why process (to call me applicants) was followed in Kumble s case, A BCCI official revealed to The Indian Express. However, the decision has to pass through the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) consisting Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman who are known to have given it a nod. “The CAC has approved the two-year extension and now everything depends on money to be paid to Dravid. The earlier contract was for ten months and board paid him more than four crores. Now, a new contract with new salary has to be provided. There is chance that his appointment would come up at board special general body meeting,” the source confirmed.

India U-19 team will travel to England soon for a brief series.
