Punjab spinner Rahul Sharma, who was a surprise selection in the India squad for the first Test against West indies starting November 6, says he will miss Harbhajan Singh.

“I am really excited to be in the Test squad, but will definitely miss Bhajji. Every cricketer in Punjab idolises Harbhajan and I am no different,” Sharma told MiD DAY.

Sharma, who plays for the Sahara Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League says he is looking forward to capitalise on the quality time that he spent in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

“Few years in NCA helped me get a taste of top class cricket and tips from Anilbhai (Kumble) were something I gained there. Anilbhai is a role model for every young spinner in the country. He taught me a lot of things for which I will remain obliged to him forever,” Sharma expressed.

The right-arm spinner said he is looking forward to make his Test debut in the first West Indies Test, “It’s needless to mention that I will give 100 percent to justify the selection. I am hoping for the best,” he said.
