Opener Mohit Sharma’s unbeaten 99 helped Delhi make 177 for three in 65.2 overs in a rain- affected first day’s play against Tamil Nadu in the Under-22 quarterfinal match for the Col C K Nayudu Trophy on Wednesday.

Electing to bat, Delhi openers Mohit Sharma (batting 99, 230b, 16×4) and Adithya Kaushik (45, 170b, 3×4, 1×6) set the tone for a solid foundation. But they lost two quick wickets as Dhruv Shorey, who came in at the fall of Kaushik, failed to open his account and then Milind Kumar made just six runs.

When play was called off due to rain at 4.31 pm, Vaibhav Rawal (5) was giving company to Sharma at the crease. Tamil Nadu medium pacer M Mohammed claimed all three wickets, conceding 37 runs. (PTI)
