Rajasthan Royals (RR) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) IPL 2014: CSK 20/0 after 4 overs

Apr 23, 2014

A  few balls were hit in the air. None of them went to fielders, however. Smith exploded in the third over, smashing James Faulkner over long on for a huge six.

Kulkarni bowled started off the fourth over well, bowling three dot balls in a row to McCullum. The seamer mixed up slower balls with his normal deliveries to good effect, as McCullum failed to get the ball away. Smith was then hit on the helmet by another slower bouncer off the fifth ball.  It was a lovely over from Kulkarni, with just two scored off the last ball.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings made a cautious start as they reached eight for no loss after two overs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 match against the Rajasthan Royals at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Dwayne Smith started the proceedings for Chennai with a boundary off the first ball by Dhawal Kulkarni in the first over. The right-arm seamer then made an impressive comeback as he sent down couple of dot balls. The first over yielded five runs to the Super Kings.

Tim Southee came into the attack in the second over. He beat the West Indian batsman Dwayne Smith couple of times to make a good start. The right-arm pace got some swing early on, and Rajasthan would fancy that he continues to impress.

Earlier in the match, the Rajasthan Royals’ captain Shane Watson won the toss and elected to field. Kane Richardson was benched by the Royals, and they brought in New Zealand pacer Tim Southee.
