Rajat Patidar and Pat Cummins both fined Rs. 24 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh respectively for slow over-rate

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins have both been given a fine for their slow over-rate of their respective teams during their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on May 23..

While Pat Cummins was fined just Rs 12 lakh as it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, Rajat Patidar was given a fine of Rs 24 lakh as a member of the playing XI of the second-time offender RCB.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Patidar was fined Rs 24 lakhs,” said the IPL in a statement.

“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.”

The IPL statement also added: “As it was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Cummins was fined Rs 12 Lakh.”

Already assured of a playoff berth, RCB suffered a 42-run loss against SRH in their penultimate league game.

Speaking about the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 42 runs in an IPL match on Friday May 23.

Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a competitive 231 runs for 6 wickets, as the team rode on a 48-ball unbeaten 94 by Ishan Kishan, which was followed by restricting the whole RCB lineup to a score of just 189 runs in 19.5 overs.

Apart from Ishan Kishan, left-handed opener Abhishek Sharma also smashed 17-ball 34, with almost all the RCB bowlers being among the wickets.
