Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final of the Indian premier League (IPL) 2025. Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab and Rajat Patidar-led Bengaluru will both aim to lift their maiden IPL title. However, this is not the first time both these players will face each other as captains of a team in a T20 tournament final.

Recently these two players have faced each other as captains of their respective teams in the final of a T20 tournament. Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh faced each other in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024. Shreyas Iyer was captain of Mumbai team and Rajat Patidar was leading the Madhya Pradesh team.

Batting first in that match, Madhya Pradesh scored 174 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs. This was a strong score by the team and Rajat Patidar played a strong innings as the captain- scoring 61 runs in 30 balls. in his innings, he hit six fours and two sixes. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh’s top and lower order had failed to perform, and Rajat had taken his team to a strong total.

However, Mumbai easily achieved this score in 17.5 overs, as the team had reached a total of 180 runs for loss of 5 wickets. Suryakumar Yadav had played an innings of 48 runs in 35 balls in that match. Apart from him, Suryansh Shegde scored 36 runs in 15 balls and Ajinkya Rahane scored 37 runs.

Now once again both the captains will face each other, but this time the final will be of the IPL 2025. Now it is yet to be seen whether Shreyas Iyer will come out victorious this time of will Rajat Patidar emerge out victorious.
