Maharashtra have taken the lead in the second innings of the Ranji Trophy 2013-14 against Karnataka at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Maharashtra were buoyed by a good partnership between Ankit Bawne and Kedar Jadhav, until the former was stopped at the beginning of the afternoon session.

Jadhav continued to fight and is nearing another ton this season. He has been adventurous at times, trying to sweep the spinners and also going the other way.

Bawne was dismissed trying to dance down the wicket and was stumped off Shreyas Gopal. Sangram Atitkar too did not last long as he tried to sweep Gopal and got a top edge that was taken at short fine-leg.

That did not stop Jadhav though, who has now constructed a fighting stand with Chirag Khurana.

Brief scores:

Maharashtra 305 and 223 for 4 (Ankit Bawne 61, Keday Jadhav 89*; R Vinay Kumar 2 for 71, Shreyas Gopal 2 for 30) lead Karnataka 515 (Robin Uthappa 72, Lokesh Rahul 131, Ganesh Sathish 117; Samad Fallah 3 for 93, Shrikant Mundhe 3 for 90, Chirag Khurana 2 for 110) by 13 runs.
