A slender 26-run first-innings lead proved to be crucial for Jharkhand as they collected three points from their Ranji Trophy Group C cricket match against Assam. Batting first, Assam were bowled out for 191 before Jharkhand managed 217. Assam declared their second innings at 235 for nine, giving Jharkhand a target of 209 with not enough time left on the final day of the match.

Opener Pallavkumar Das top-scored for Assam with Sibsankar Roy chipping in with 62, while bowler Ajay Yadav picked up 4/29 for Jharkhand. The visitors were 78 for four in 32 overs when stumps were drawn for the final time in the match. Skipper Saurabh Tiwary (28) and Kaushal Singh (24) were the not out batsmen at the crease at close of play.

For Assam, Krishna Das was the most impressive bowler, returning figures of 3/17.
