The 2014-15 season of the Ranji Trophy commenced today. The four-Day tournament features 24 teams. All 24 teams were seen in action with as many as 12 matches played in different parts of the Country. The premier Indian domestic tournament that kicked off today concludes in March, with the final scheduled for March 8.

 

Madhya Pradesh vs Railways:

 

Medium pacer Anureet Singh’s five-wicket haul proved to be destructive as Railways bowled out Madhya Pradesh for 181 on the opening day of their Group A Ranji Trophy match here today.

Brief Scores:

Madhya Pradesh 1st Innings: 181 all out in 79 overs (Jalaj Saxena 41, Rameez Khan 41, Anureet Singh 5 for 43) vs Railways 1st Innings: 21 for no loss in 21 overs (Abhishek Kaushik 13 not out).

 

Delhi vs Saurashtra:

Skipper Gautam Gambhir led from the front with a gutsy unbeaten century while the others floundered as Delhi struggled to 260 for six at stumps on the first day of their opening Ranji Trophy fixture against Saurashtra in New Delhi on Sunday.

Delhi 260 for 6 (Gautam Gambhir 123*, Rajat Bhatia 47; Sudeep Tyagi 2 for 45; Abhishek Bhat 2 for 52) vs Saurashtra.

 

Karnataka vs Tamil Nadu:

Chidambaram Gautam’s 94-run knock was the highlight for Karnataka before Tamil Nadu bowled them out for 290 in their first innings on Day One of their opening Ranji Trophy match here on Sunday.

Karnataka 290 (Kunal Kapoor 87, Chidambaram Gautam 94; Jagannathan Kaushik 4 for 53, M Mohammed 3 for 80) lead Tamil Nadu 22 for 0 (Kaushik Gandhi 12, Abhinav Mukund 10) by 278 runs.

 

Jammu & Kashmir vs Mumbai:

Jammu & Kashmir shocked 40-time champions Mumbai by bundling them out for a meagre 236 in the first innings on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group A game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday

Brief scores:

Mumbai 236 (Bravish Shetty 35, Suryakumar Yadav 57, Dhawal Kulkarni 42*; Waseem Raza 3 for 29; Ram Dayal 3 for 51) lead Jammu & Kashmir 88 for 1 (Shubham Khajuria 47*, Bandeep Singh 34*) by 148 runs.

 

Punjab vs Haryana:

India discard Yuvraj Singh‘s 59 was the only saving grace for Punjab as a six-wicket haul by off-spinner Jayant Yadav helped Haryana bundle them out for a mere 273 in their first innings on the first day of a Ranji Trophy Group A match at Patiala on Sunday. At stumps on Day One, Haryana reached 19 for one with Abhimanyu Khod (10) and Yuzvendra Chahal (one) at the crease.

Punjab 273 (Amitoze Singh 45, Yuvraj Singh 59, Gurkeerat Singh 43; Jayant Yadav 6 for 85, Amit Mishra 3 for 72) lead Haryana 19 for 1 (Abhimanyu Khod 10*) by 254 runs.

 

Gujarat vs Rajasthan:

Fine half centuries by Samit Gohil, Priyank Kirit Panchal and B H Merai propelled visitors Gujarat to a comfortable 258 for four at the end of first day’s play in their Ranji Trophy Group B league match against Rajasthan at Jaipur on Sunday. At stumps, Merai (63 not out) was at the crease with K D Patel (17) giving him company.

Bengal vs Baroda:

Young left-hander Sudeep Chatterjee again gave display of his talent as his patient unbeaten 91 took Bengal to a respectable 255 for three against Baroda in an opening Group A encounter of the Ranji Trophy at Vadodara on Tuesday.

Bengal 255 for 3 (Arindam Das 54, Sudeep Chatterjee 91*, Shreevats Goswami 61*; Munaf Patel 1 for 32) vs Baroda.

 

Goa vs Kerala:

Half-centuries from Amogh Desai, Darshan Misal and Saurabh Bandekar enabled Goa finish day one of their Ranji Trophy Group C match against Kerala on a commanding 313 for six at Wayanad on Sunday. At stumps, Misal was unbeaten on 67 and giving him company at the other end was Amit Yadav on eight.

Odisha vs Maharashtra:

Biplab Samantray struck a gutsy, unbeaten half century to guide Odisha to a respectable 223 for five on day one of their opening Group B Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra at Pune on Sunday

Odisha 223 for 5 (Natraj Behera 66, Biplab Samantray 64*; Domnic Joseph 2 for 29) vs Maharashtra.

 

Hyderabad vs Andhra:

Skipper Dwarka Ravi Teja missed out on a well-deserved ton as Hyderabad reached 281 for six against Andhra on the opening day of the group C Ranji Trophy match at Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Hyderabad 281 for 6 (P Akshath Reddy 55, Dwarka Ravi Teja 96, DP Vijaykumar 2 for 32) vs Andhra.

 

Assam vs Tripura:

A total of 14 wickets fell as Assam bowled out Tripura for 135 before being reduced to 68 for four on day one of their opening Group C Ranji Trophy match here today. At stumps, hosts Assam trailed the visitors by 67 runs with six wickets remaining in the 1st innings at the Nehru Stadium.

Services vs Himachal Pradesh:

Services were dismissed for a score of 226 during their opening Ranji Trophy encounter against Himachal Pradesh (HP) at Model Sports Complex in Delhi on Sunday. HP in reply were batting at a score of 19 for no loss at stumps on the opening day
